Makeup Monday!!!
In honor of all the gorgeous red lips at last nights Golden Globe’s, My Makeup Monday recommendation is one of my absolute favorite red lipsticks.
MAC- RUBY WOO!
The perfect red, and it’s Super Matte, which in my opinion is the best! Matte red’s look super classic & velvety and they really stay put without bleeding. This is a red every girl should have in their collection! I recommend this with MAC- Cherry Lip Liner.

Looks like this»>

Makeup Monday!!!
MAC Paint Pot in Nubile. I just got this a few days ago and have fallen in Love. Amazing eye shadow base, and just a great all over lid color, looks really nice under the brow as a highlighter too. The Paint pots are super creamy and easy to blend, I can’t wait to get more colors!

MAKEUP BRUSHES I can’t live without…
If you are a makeup junky you know how important brushes are when it comes to achieving great makeup. Great Tools are key for every artist!!! You can get color to deposit much better with proper brushes. Here is a breakdown of the brushes I use for all my makeup applications!…
Foundation/ Creme Blush Brush- Smashbox
This brush distributes and blends cremes perfectly across the skin.

Spot Concealer Brush- Laura Mercier
This brush is great for covering up blemishes or dark circles.

Under Eye Powder- Urban Decay
This is a blending brush, but I use it to set translucent powder under and around the eyes, its perfect. It’s also great for applying base eye shadow and blending out shadows.

Powder Brush- Smashbox
This brush is so soft, and I love the shape it dispenses powder evenly into the creases of the face. Love!

Blush Brush- Japonesque
Maybe the softest brush Ive ever used, I also love the shape of this brush, use it flat for the apples of the cheeks, turn it sideways to contour the cheekbones.

Eye Brow Brush- Bobbi Brown and MAC
Bobbi brush is more firm so you can get a super defined brow, the color will go on heavier, the MAC brush is thinner which is great for fine brows and eye liner.

Eye Shadow Crease Brush- Philosophy
I use this brush on every eye makeup I do, it fits perfectly into the crease and gives a soft blended crease, a must have!

Defined Crease Brush-Laura Mercier
This gives you a super defined crease, I’ve used this brush since day 1 of my makeup career, literally cannot live without it. It also gives the perfect smokey eye, smudge any shadow under the eye into lash line.

Eye Shadow Brush- MAC #239
This has recently become a new fav! I use this to apply eye shadow all over the eye lid, as well as smudge shadow or eye liner around the eye. This brush is synthetic so it can be used wet as well, great to wet eyeshadows and apply to lid or under eye concealer as well.

Eye Liner Brush- MAC 209/ Urban Decay Wonder Brush
The 209 brush makes applying winged eyeliner effortless. The Wonder Brush is called that because it does everything! Smudgy eyeliner, eye shadow and again this brush is synthetic so it is a great lip brush! Urban Decay has all synthetic brushes- No Animal Hair!

Lip Brush- Japonesque Retractable Lip Brush/ Smashbox Lip
Im so super picky with lip brushes, a tapered end is a must, and i like them to be semi firm and not flimsy. These are 2 favs. Its alwasy great to have a retractable brush to keep in your makeup bag!

and last but not least…
Smashbox Face & Body Brush #19- I use this for Body Makeup…AKA Carlene K Shine Bronzer. This is awesome for applying body bronzer or shimmer. If you don’t want to get lotion all over your hands, it fits into the curves and creases of your body. It is super firm so it deposits a lot of product quickly! Love!

Happy Shopping…… XOXO

HOW TO make a lipstick palette w/ old lipsticks!
This is too much fun, and will save you $$$. While cleaning last week I rediscovered my bag full of old MAC lipsticks, all the pale pinks I’ve worn over the past couple years. I’ve been saving them up because MAC has a recycling program, bring in 6 empty plastic containers and get a free lipstick! I literally could not sleep the other night thinking about the amazing pink palette I was going to make. Haha, total makeup geek, I know!
Today I went to one of my fav beauty stores and purchased a JAPONESQUE-Lipstick Palette Kit. So stoked! $18.99. It comes with the perfect 8 pan palette, a spatula, a melting/pouring bowl and a lip brush. SCORE!

I then laid out all my fav lipsticks and arranged them in the order I wanted.
Here’s the key, most people get to where their lipstick is flat and they cant apply it anymore, and they toss it. NOOO, Don’t Do It! There’s still half a tube of lipstick left in the bottom half of the case. People are throwing out their lipsticks half used.
So take the spatula, and scrape out every ounce of lipstick until theres nothing left, and wipe it all off into the melting bowl.

Then place the bowl in the microwave for 40-60 seconds. The bowl is rubber so its ok to microwave, however it does get really hot.

Let it cool for a few seconds, bend the bowl a bit and pour it into the selected slot. Fill it to the brim but not over.wipe the bowl clean while the lipstick is still in liquid form, it cleans super easy.
Then Repeat until all the slots are filled….Take a pointed QTip and wipe the edges so it looks nice and neat.

Isn’t she pretty????

And Finally, gather all your empty containers, march them back into the MAC store and cash in on a brand new lipstick!!
This saves so much room in my personal makeup bag, and now that I’ve done this for me, I will definitely be doing this for my makeup kit. Like most people Im a creature of habit and I definitely have my favorite colors that I stick to. Yet I carry around a million lipsticks. This will lighten my load and make my job so much easier.
Hope you give it a try!! xoxox

Serena Williams- Pre Grammy Party Makeup Breakdown

Serena looked stunning Saturday night in a pale green Fendi dress. I wanted her makeup to look fresh and glamorous!
To Even out her skin I started with Bobbi Brown-Stick Foundation, which is a MUST HAVE on darker skin tones because of the yellow base. It’s Amazing! I also used lighter and darker shades for highlighting and contouring. This product is also great as a concealer or eyeshadow base.

I set the foundation with RCMA-No Color Powder that works for all skin tones!!
I shaped her eyebrows with Smashbox-Brow Tech To Go in Brunette

I LOVE Serena’s eyes, so I wanted them to be the focal point of this look. I started by blending MAC-Saddle Eyeshadow into Her crease

I then used a color I love and don’t use often enough Urban Decay-URB Eyeshadow. This is a pale sparkly green, I applied it wet onto her eyelid and highlighted her inner corners. I applied it we to make the color more vibrant and also to help keep glitter from falling down onto the rest of the face. Great trick with glittery shadows.

I then smoked serena’s outter corners with NARS-Night Porter eyeshadow. On her eyelid I smoked her lash line and blended a V shape into her crease, on the bottom I smudged it halfway across, in order to keep the inner highlight.
I lined her top lash line and bottom inner rim with MAC-Fluidline in Blacktrack

I applied a full strip of Smoke and Mirrors-Nashville lashes to add drama to the eye.

For the apple of her cheeks I used NARS-Taos Blush
Then dusted MAC-Golden Bronze on her cheekbones to make her skin Glow!
I kept her lips pale to keep the focus on the eyes, I used Smashbox-Splendid lipstick
and super nude Sephora Collection Lip Gloss in-In the Buff
To finish the whole look I applied Carlene K Shine Bronzer- in Cocoa Queen! This color is NOT Available yet, I am gearing up to launch Golden Goddess (Fair) and Cocoa Queen (Dark) closer to Summer. It is used not to make her darker but to make her skin have the most amazing Golden Bronze Glow. For “Bronze Bombsell” which works on all skin tones visit my site www.CarleneKCosmetics.com

Jojo’s Pre Grammy Party Makeup Breakdown!

I evened out Jojo’s skin tone with Make Up For Ever’s- Face and Body Foundation
Her eyebrows were filled in and perfected with Urban Decay Brow Box in Brown Sugar

We went with a gunmetal smokey look for her eyes. The colors I used were
MAC-
I blended Malt softly into her crease and a bit up onto her brow bone.
To Smoke her eyes I used Smashbox- Obsidian Eyeshadow
I applied this with a firm crease brush and smoked it underneath here eyes, across her top lash line, blended the color into her crease and heavy into the outer corners of her eyes.
I then applied Urban Decay- YDK to her inner eye corner and onto her eyelid, I wet the brush to increase the pigment of the eyeshadow.

I then smudged Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in Zero into her lash line, both top and bottom, and on her inner rims to really pop the eye and add the drama.

You can’t do a Sexy Smokey eye without amazing lashes. I applied #15 lashes with Duo Darktone glue

For the finishing touch on her eyes I dusted on a bit of sparkle under her eye brow with Urban Decay-Stardust Eyeshadow in Bobby Dazzle

I wanted Jojo’s skin to have a fresh summery glow so I used Urban Decay-Baked Bronzer to give her a bronzy glow, Smashbox-Baked Fusion Softlights Palette- Illusion on her cheekbones for highlight and Nars-Orgasm blush on the apples of her cheeks.

On her lips we used a gorgeous peach tone to compliment the rest of her look Nars-Super Orgasm Lip Gloss.
and to polish off her entire sexy look I applied Carlene K Shine Bronzer all over her body to create a golden glow from head to toe that lasted all night!! www.CarleneKCosmetics.com
